Delete some of your data

You can delete some or all of your data in Akaal without deleting your account. Most things can be deleted straight away in the app; anything else, ask us by email.

In the app

Sangat posts and comments: open the post or comment, tap ⋯, then Delete. Its photos, videos and recordings are deleted with it.

Reactions: tap the reaction again to remove it.

Saved posts: tap ⋯ on the post, then Remove from saved. Posts you marked Not interested: on your Sangat profile, tap Show them again.

People and gurdwaras you follow: tap Following to stop following. People you blocked: on your Sangat profile, tap Unblock.

Sevas: a Seva you host can be cancelled or deleted from its page, and you can leave a Seva you joined. The host of a Seva can delete messages in its chat.

Progress, bookmarks, streaks and settings are kept only on your device, not on Akaal's servers; deleting the app or clearing its data removes them.

By email

For anything else (for example your profile photo, your reflections, chat messages you sent in a Seva you didn't host, your service-hours forms, or all of your Sangat or Seva content at once), email akaal.app.support@gmail.com from the email address you use to sign in to Akaal, with the subject "Delete my data", and say what you want deleted. Akaal deletes it within 30 days (usually much sooner) and replies to confirm. Accounts with a username have no email address: email us the username and the birth month and year on the account; we may ask for more to confirm it's yours.

Some things can't be deleted this way while your account stays open: your sign-in details and birth month and year (they are needed for the account), service-hours forms you signed as a host (they belong to the volunteers), photos you added to a gurdwara's page (the page's managers can remove them), and the administrators' record of actions taken on reports. Deleted data may remain in backups for up to about a week before those backups are overwritten.
